River Cottage

The clients arrived with two loves, the worn, unhurried soul of Irish cottages and the layered sensuality of Balinese bohemia. The studio's work was to hold both without collapsing either into the other.

What emerged is a home that refuses easy categorization. Handmade tiles, herringbone blue, checkered and textured, carry the evidence of craft throughout. Wood paneling grounds the walls in warmth. In the playroom, rattan and tropical wallpaper conspire into something that feels genuinely alive. The layering of material upon material, culture upon culture, produces an interior that is specific to these people, this life and built to endure it.
